Ten thousand placed, and counting

A book they were never
going to be given.

Most of the people we reach have never owned a book of any kind, let alone this one. Nobody is handed a whole Bible on the first day — there is a ladder, and it is climbed one rung at a time, in whichever form a person can actually use.

Ten thousand placed, and counting

The first book
they have ever held.

A new believer is given the Gospel of John on the day they ask. It is short enough to finish, and the whole gospel is inside it. Then we come back.

About two weeks later comes the full Bible — and this is where it matters what a person can actually do. Printed, for those who read. An Urdu audio Bible, for those who cannot read or write — a small player with the whole Scripture and gospel songs on it, which brick-kiln families can listen to while their hands are busy. A children's Bible in colour, for children who have never been to school.

There is no test and no charge. Nobody signs anything. The pastor who gave it comes back to read it with them, because a Bible handed over and never opened again helps no one.

  • The Gospel of John on day one — short enough to finish
  • The full printed Bible about two weeks later, for those who read
  • An Urdu audio Bible for those who cannot read or write
  • Colour children's Bibles for those who have never been to school
  • A pastor who comes back and reads it with them

How it works

From the first page to the whole Book

01

First — the Gospel of John

The moment someone receives the good news, we place a copy of John's Gospel in their hands. One short book, the life of Jesus, nothing to intimidate a brand-new believer. These go out in the tens of thousands.

02

After about two weeks — the full Bible

Once a new believer has read John and is still hungry, and once our pastors judge them ready, we give the complete Holy Bible as a free gift to anyone who can read and write.

03

For those who cannot read — the audio Bible

Most kiln workers never went to school. Battery and solar players carry the spoken Word in their own language, so a whole family can listen together in the evening.

04

For the children — a Bible of their own

Colourful, age-appropriate storybook Bibles for children who have never owned a book of any kind.

Portraits

The moment it is
actually in their hands.

These are the photographs the ministry cares most about, and they are almost always portraits — because what is happening is happening to one person.

An elder who cannot read holding the book open anyway. A woman turning the pages of something that belongs to her. A child with a colour Bible under her arm. Nobody posed them; the camera was simply there when it was handed over.

From our own hands

Every Bible in these pictures
went to a real name.

Nothing here is stock photography. Our own team took these on the day the Bibles were placed into people's hands, in the villages where it happened.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Psalm 119:105
For authors and publishers

Have your book translated,
printed, and actually read.

Harvest Hands translates and distributes Christian literature across Pakistan. If you have written a book, a study, a devotional or a discipleship course, we can render it into Urdu, have it printed properly, and put it directly into the hands of believers — in our own congregation, in more than four hundred home churches, and among the pastors we train.

Most Christian books written in English are never read by a single Pakistani believer. Not because the appetite is missing, but because nobody translated it and nobody carried it there. We can do both.
